Woman Found Restrained in Home, Man Arrested

Deputies Find Woman Inside Home

A 31-year-old Victorville man was arrested after deputies found a woman restrained and injured inside a home, according to local reporting citing the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies responded to an assault report on Enfield Drive in Victorville at about 4:25 p.m. on Sept. 23. Authorities said the woman had multiple visible injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Investigators did not publicly identify her.

Suspect Allegedly Leaves With Juvenile

Authorities identified the suspect as Semaj Raines of Victorville. Deputies said Raines had left the home with a female juvenile before they arrived. The department did not release additional information about the relationship between the juvenile and the adults involved. No motive was publicly disclosed, and investigators have not released a detailed account of what allegedly occurred before deputies were called.

Aerial Team Helps Locate Vehicle

Deputies searched for Raines after learning that he had left the residence. With assistance from aerial support personnel, authorities located his vehicle in Hesperia. Deputies stopped the vehicle in the 10000 block of Seventh Avenue. The juvenile was found in the front passenger seat, according to the report. Authorities also alleged that she was not secured in a child safety seat as required.

Multiple Charges Filed After Arrest

Raines was taken into custody and booked at the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto. Authorities said he was booked on allegations including attempted murder, torture, false imprisonment, corporal injury to a spouse and unlawful possession or use of tear gas. The allegations have not been proven in court. Raines is presumed innocent unless and until he is convicted.

Victim Taken for Medical Treatment

The woman was transported to a hospital after deputies found her at the Victorville residence. Officials did not release additional information about her condition beyond reporting that she had visible injuries. Her identity was withheld. The sheriff’s department also did not provide further public details about how long she had allegedly been restrained or what led someone to report the assault.

Investigation Remains Open

The case remains under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Victorville Station. Detectives have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the station or Sheriff’s Dispatch. Anonymous information can also be submitted through We-Tip. Authorities had not announced a motive or additional arrests in the reporting available after Raines was booked.
